FreeWillUSA.ai is intended only for residents of the State of California, and this Privacy Policy describes our practices for California users. This policy is provided for general informational purposes and is not legal advice.

Our approach

FreeWillUSA.ai is built to collect as little as possible. You can create your documents without an account or password, and your draft plan lives in your browser while you work. Some information does leave your device to make the Service work — for example, your messages to the AI guide, a plan you choose to save, documents you choose to email, and the analytics described below. We never sell your personal information, and we do not show ads.

Information we process

• The information you enter to build your plan (names, relationships, wishes, and other details). This is used solely to generate your documents.
• Your email address — only if you choose to save your progress or have documents emailed to you.
• Basic technical data such as your browser type and limited request information, used to keep the Service secure and working.
• Usage and analytics data — the pages you visit and features you use, a random visitor ID, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address (never your raw IP). See "Analytics, cookies, and local storage" below.

How your information is used

We use your information only to operate the Service: to guide your conversation, generate and let you edit your documents, optionally save your progress, and protect against abuse. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI processing

The conversational guide is powered by a third-party AI provider. The messages you send are transmitted to that provider to generate responses. We send only what is necessary to provide the conversation, and our AI provider's commercial API does not train AI models on our data.

Service providers (subprocessors)

We rely on a small number of service providers to run the Service. Each processes data only to provide their service to us:

• AI conversation processing — to power the conversational guide. Our AI provider's commercial API does not train models on our data.
• Database hosting — to store saved plans and our first-party analytics events.
• Site hosting and performance measurement — to serve the site and measure page-view and performance metrics.
• Product analytics — to understand how the site is used.
• Transactional email — for example, emailing your documents to you.

Storage and retention

Your draft plan is stored in your browser's localStorage on your own device, and stays there until you clear your browser data or use the Reset option. If you save your progress with an email, we retain your saved plan in our database until you delete your account or ask us to delete it — deleting your account removes your saved data. Analytics events are retained so we can improve the product. You can request deletion of your saved data at any time.

Analytics, cookies, and local storage

We use privacy-focused product analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve it:

• Product analytics — our analytics provider sets cookies and local-storage identifiers in your browser to recognize repeat visits.
• Aggregate page-view and performance measurement — provided by our site host.
• Our own first-party usage events — the pages you visit and features you use, tied to a random visitor ID stored in your browser, along with a salted one-way hash of your IP address (never your raw IP) and your browser type. These events are stored in our own database.

We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other websites. We also use essential browser storage (localStorage) to keep your draft plan on your device while you work.

Children

The Service is intended for adults (18+) creating their own estate-planning documents and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
